Dipterocarpus tempehes  is  a locally common Dipterocarp widespread in Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan.

D. tempehes  is unusual because it is the only dipterocarp with a fruit without any wings just a bare nut. The tiny remnants of the normal dipterocarps seed wings form a tiny crown around the apex of the nut  as shown in the bottom photo.

Previously believed to be endemic to Borneo, a relict population was discovered in Singapore in (2005) . See the link below ;

As far as we are aware  this is the first record for Dipterocarpus tempehes for Brunei.

According to Peter Ashton  (below) the nuts have a sort of crown around the apex made up of 5 vestigial lobes as shown in the photo above.
